As with any DIY job, you’ll need the right tools. The tools that you need will differ depending on the type of bumper that you’ll be removing and its replacement.

Front bumpers are designed differently from rear bumpers. When you are taking down either of them, you have to customize your approach to best suit the type of bumper that you’re working with.

We recommend that you read through all the instructions before you begin. This will make the job easier when you do start.

The following steps must be followed when taking down your old front bumper:

  1. Remove fog light connectors and move the wiring harness out of the way so that you do not disturb it as you are working.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Are Aftermarket Truck Bumpers?

These are non-standard bumpers that you can use to upgrade your vehicle. Aftermarket truck bumpers are easy to install. If your standard bumper is letting you down, you can get an aftermarket bumper to suit your needs.

What Are the Benefits of Installing Aftermarket Bumpers?

There are several benefits to aftermarket bumpers that will increase your safety whether you’re on or off the road.

  1. They have greater tire clearance: Aftermarket bumpers are designed in a way that improves a vehicle’s approach and departure angles. The added clearance minimises rubbing against the tires, especially if you have larger wheels installed.
  2. Standard bumpers are not strong enough to leverage a winch. Some aftermarket bumpers are designed with this in mind, so you can attach a winch whenever you want to without worrying that it will break your bumper.
  3. Installing an aftermarket bumper replacement can increase the lifespan of your truck. These will deflect rocks and bear the brunt of any bumps and knicks. Most aftermarket bumpers can be synced to a truck’s impact sensors. This allows the airbags to be activated in an emergency.
