Ram Truck Bumpers: The Installation Process
Installing the Front Bumper on Ram Trucks
FLOG Industries, FISD-D2535-1018F Dodge Ram 2500/3500 front bumper 2010-2018
Step 1: Removing the Current Bumper
Inside the fender wells on both the passenger and driver’s side, locate the plastic material screwed to the mainframe and bumper.
Remove the screws using an eight-millimeter socket (the size is consistent for most models) to detach the plastics from the bumper.
By removing these pieces first, you get easy access to the underside and can unscrew the nuts holding the bumper on the mainframe. After this, you’ll remove the mounting bracket bolts and lower the bumper to the ground.
Before doing so, go to the driver’s side and locate the wire/sensor harness. Unplug it to disconnect all the accessories in the bumper from the mainframe.
Normally, this step isn’t a one-person job. Ask a friend to support the bumper while you’re pulling off the nuts to avoid injury when the bumper comes loose.
Once the bumper is off, disassemble all the accessories attached to it (using a screwdriver/the drill bit and clip remover), noting their specific position.
Label the accessories—fog lights, sensors, and wire harness—to map out their arrangement and exact placement for a hassle-free reassembly.
Step 2: Reassembling the Accessories on the New Bumper
Mount the accessories you’ve just removed from your old bumper onto the one.
If you removed the sensors, be sure you know which ones are for the top and bottom to ensure you place them back correctly on your new front bumper. Make sure that the sensor harness is oriented perfectly. The part you unplugged on the driver’s side should fall back into place.
If your new Ram bumper allows fixing a towing hook, now is the time to mount it.
As you already know, Ram trucks with towing capability won’t be left stranded on the roadside—other vehicles can easily pull your pickup in the event of a breakdown.
Step 3: Mounting the New Bumper
Sandwich the new brackets perfectly to the mounting holes (drill new bolt holes if necessary using a drill motor and bit), and fit in the nuts, but don’t tighten them yet.
Remember that using new bumper brackets depends on the nature of the old ones you removed, and the new bumper you’re installing.
With a friend’s help, lift the bumper and hold it against the vehicle while attaching it to the mainframe from underneath.
Balance the bumper using a floor jack as you tighten all the nuts.
Lastly, go to the driver’s side and reconnect the sensor harness to the vehicle.
That’s it. You’ve installed your new heavy-duty front bumper.
Now, let’s install the rear bumper.

Step 1: Removing the Current Bumper
Using a screwdriver or drill motor and bit, pull out the screws that are holding the rear bumper to the vehicle.
On either side of your Ram truck, you’ll see a wire harness. Grab the clip with your hand, and pull it out to disconnect the accessories on the rear bumper.
Then, raise your car using a two-wheel ramp Go beneath the truck from behind, and pull out the bumper bracket nuts using a socket and ratchet. Do this on both sides.
Be sure to support the bumper you’re removing when loosening the nuts.
Step 2: Reassembling the Accessories on the New Ram Bumper
With the bolts off and the old bumper down, reassemble any accessories, like plate lights, onto the new rear bumper.
Next, remount the old bumper brackets (depending on their condition) or install new ones, and mount them to the frame.
Leave the bracket nuts loose to allow you to level the bumper before tightening them.
Step 3: Mounting the New Bumper
With the help of a friend, mount the bumper onto the brackets and loosely attach it with bolts.
Manipulate the bumper using a floor jack until you strike perfect balance, then tighten the loose nuts.
Reconnect the wire harness on both sides of your truck.
Your Ram workhorse is now ready to tame the off-road terrain and withstand minor collisions.
Note: The above procedure works for all or most Ram truck models.

A Sense of Style on Your Ram Vehicle
Apart from uncompromised pickup strength, you want a statement-making four-wheel-drive machine.
That’s where bumpers come in. Installing durable and eye-catching bumpers is the perfect upgrade for both the front and rear of your Ram automobile.
We know that standing out is important. Aftermarket bumpers are the way to make your vehicle stand out. Sleek and powerful, aftermarket bumpers are the best accessory for turning heads.
Protection Against Minor Hits or Collisions
Jumping into your four-wheel-drive pickup and embarking on an off-road adventure, camping trip, or mountain drive is a journey full of uncertainties—even a flimsy looking tree branch can be a threat.
For that reason, any added protection will spare you costly damages. That’s why installing top-quality aftermarket Ram bumpers is critical.
You’ll reduce or prevent damage to the hood, grille, trunk, among other parts, in low-speed crashes.
In the long run, installing heavy-duty Ram bumpers on your pickup will reduce the replacement frequency of some rear and front parts.

FAQs: Choosing the Right Ram Bumper and Dealer
Why Should I Opt For Aftermarket and Not an OEM Bumper?
First, aftermarket bumpers are readily available because they have so many manufacturers.
This means you get personalized bumpers delivered quickly. This is often not the case with Original Equipment Manufacturers.
What’s more, aftermarket bumpers are cheaper than OEM parts, without sacrificing quality.
Locally Manufactured Versus Foreign Bumpers: Which Ones Should I Choose?
Go for locally manufactured Ram bumpers.
Yes, foreign bumpers may be cheaper than local ones. But cheap costs mean cheap products. If quality matters to you, shop local.
